PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The aim of this Bachelor’s in Film Art program is to emphasize more on creative skills rather than technology. An introductory course in the fundamentals of filmmaking during the 1st year will give them an overview of film production. The 2nd year onward the course focuses more on the topics like idea, concepts development, storytelling, screenplay script development & Direction. The course is very well structured in such a way that the students get hands-on experience on each of the processes of filmmaking including photography editing & sound designing. More emphasis is given on the aesthetic and creative part of filmmaking. Our case study based approach will help the student to understand the evaluation of Indian and International cinema, different narrative structures, different styles in film direction & creative film editing. The students are trained to think artistically and critically and make films for various causes. We instill research-based approach to bring out the best in them. Through the course the student will have an opportunity to make an ad film/public service film, short fiction and documentary. In the final year the student will work on a graduation film in which he/she gets a chance to showcase their best creative skills.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM

The objective of this film program is to provide the student with multiple career opportunities given his skill of Direction in the fields of feature Filmmaking, Television Industry Documentary Production and advertising. His ability in managing teams and being an inspiring leader being an asset wherever he goes would bring laurels to the country.

ELIGIBILITY

  • The medium of instruction of the RSACE film making course will be English and hence candidates seeking admission are expected to have English as a compulsory subject at least up to XIIth.
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 45% marks in his/her 10+2 or equivalent.

CAREER OPTIONS

Upon Completion of this 4-year degree in film making from our esteemed film school, the  student has an option to become a Director & Screenplay Writer with a wide knowledge of  all aspects of movie making in all the fields – Feature Films, Television Programs,  Documentaries, Short Films, Web Series, AD Films etc. The job profiles are

INTRODUCTION

Recent years have seen a surge of a different kind of (gen next) cinema for the coming of age audience. With the exploration of various genres, cinema is no more a prerogative of the rich. A person from any background can experiment with cinema. Also with the Internet revolution, the world has become a global space. Youtube has created opportunities for young filmmakers, who can experiment short film and build confidence to move on to big screen. Cinema has transcended the boundaries. In our country earlier cinema was considered not a very good field to opt for but with the changing times, multicultural country, access to latest technology and with the help of social media and search engine many youngsters are attracted to this field. Now a day’s students want to explore the options of filmmaking and various allied fields e.g. Scriptwriting, Acting, Choreography, Television production, video production, film editing, cinematography, film directing, producing etc. with the kind of technology growth, high-speed internet connectivity film production is emerging as one of the biggest career for any individual.
