University of Mumbai
The University of Mumbai (known earlier as University of Bombay) is one of the oldest and premier Universities in India. It was established in 1857 consequent upon “Wood’s Education Dispatch”, and it is one amongst the first three Universities in India. As a sequel to the change in the name of the city from Bombay to Mumbai, the name of the University has been changed from “University of Bombay” to “University of Mumbai”, vide notification issued by the Government of Maharashtra and published in the Government Gazette dated 4th September, 1996.
Garware Institute of Career Education and Development
The House of Garwares was founded by the dynamic visionary, Late Padmabushan Balchandra Digamber alias Abasaheb Garware. The GICED is his brain-child as much as that of the university, signifying the joint venture of education and industry. Shri Abasaheb advocated the re-orientation of education, because in his view traditional arts, crafts and hereditary skills that passed from one generation to another were disappearing and there were no facilities for formal training in these areas. Further, trained manpower in various skills and trades migrated from India to other countries causing an acute shortage of skills at home.
Media & Entertainment Skills Council
Founded in 2012, Media & Entertainment Skills Council (MESC) is a Not-for-Profit Organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Council has been promoted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) with financial support from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) MESC has 150 plus Affiliated Training Partners, 933 Total Certified Trainers, 24 plus Empaneled Assessment Agencies, 5,64,195 Trainings conducted under MESC, and 64 QPs across 12 Sub-Sectors.
