Amit Khanna

Amit Khanna a well renowned Director, Triple National Film Award winning Producer, Lyricist, Writer and journalist.
He is the only Media professional who has worked in every segment-print, radio, television, films, stage, live entertainment and digital media for five decades. He has written lyrics of 400 film & non-film songs including many all-time hits and dozen award winning feature films scripts and documentaries. Amit Khanna, set up PLUS channel in 1989 which was India’s first integrated media and Entertainment Company. 
In 1980, he produced his first feature film “MAN PASAND”. He also directed India’s first music video with Nazia & Zoeb Hassan in 1984. He wrote and directed critically acclaimed films and several documentaries. He was the executive producer of TV serial Buniyaad. He has edited magazines such as TEMPUS, TAKE 2 and was Editorial Advisor to Economic Times, Probe, etc.
Amit Khanna has been the dialogue writer for the famous movie “Saraansh” starring Anupam Kher. He has been the Executive Producer for movies like “Des Pardes” , “Man Pasand” , “Loot Maar” . Popular songs written by Amit Khanna – “Uthe Sabke Kadam Dekho Rum Pum Pum” , “Jab Chhaye Mera Jadoo” , “Chalte Chalte Mere Ye Geet Yaad Rakhna” and many more. The famous serial “Swabhimaan” was the brainchild of Amit Khanna. He also has associations with “Shanti – Ek Aurat Ki Kahani” a serial that gave rise to Mandira Bedi.
He is the ex-Chairman of FICCI and CII. He was a Member of the Prime Minister’s Committee on Information, Communication & Entertainment, CII’s Service Council and Advisory Board of the Forum d’Avignon, Paris.  He was the President of Earth Communications office (an Environment – NGO) for 15 years. He continues to be a permanent member of the Producers Guild of India and T.V. institutes.
He has been a guest lecturer at NYU, USC and other prestigious institutions around the world. He was the first Indian to serve on the International Emmys Jury. He has won several awards including three National Awards for Films, Industry Leadership Award at Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), first leadership award at Indian Film Festival of Houston, and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Television (UPTRON) and CMO Council Masterbrand, Lifetime Achievement Award 2010. Lifetime Achievement award for his contribution to Film and TV at the Norway Bollywood Festival 2015. Film Critics Council Lifetime Award (2017), PR Council of India Lifetime (2017)
His anthology of poetry “Anant Raag /Infinite Verse” was published by Harpercollins in January, 2013. His new book “Words, Sounds, Images: A History of Media And Entertainment in India” was released to critical acclaim in January 2000.
Amit Khanna is currently working on his new book.
